What the owners say . . .
"Paradox
Point is a very special and unique place. Aptly named, it provides
serene privacy yet the convenience to St. Andrews, St. Stephen
and Saint John. Living in a pastoral setting abounding in wildlife
between three more sophisticated locales offers the best of
all worlds. The neighborhood has a strong sense of community
with everyone being treated like family. It is a social network
accepting as much or as little involvement as anyone wishes.
Within this special neighborhood, we found the perfect lot.
We situated the house on edge of the thirty-foot bluff and cleared
trees to maximize ocean views and the panorama of the bay islands
and the Maine coastline. The elevation allows viewing seals
and porpoises and is only surpassed by looking down upon eagles
as they perch in nearby spruce trees or sweep below you often
less than thirty feet from the front windows. The location of
the house provides morning sun streaming into the corner kitchen
window, offset by evening sunsets from the great room and decks...and
everything good in between morning and night.
Rocky Cove Retreat, our house design from Coastal Living and
by architect Charles Paul Goebel, was inspired by the serene
beauty of Maryland's Eastern Shore. Our lot was already being
cleared for a set of different house plans, but after seeing
Rocky Cove Retreat, we knew that this house was made for this
lot! We took the design and made it our own, by modifying the
plans to fit the wooded, sloping lot and to meet our needs for
comfort and socializing.
You never know, before you actually build a home, whether or
not it will meet your needs. We knew that it would be special
with every room having lots of glass to enjoy the oceanfront
but it has far exceeded our expectations. From the inside perspective,
the open floor plan on the main level makes entertaining easy
as people and conversation flow between rooms, while the divergent
locations of the bedrooms and their private baths promote privacy.
From the outside, both the exterior and the yard were designed
for easy maintenance - carefree siding and stone landscaping
with NO lawn!!! Maintaining the natural beauty of our surroundings
is a priority. All this makes for a pretty amazing home!
And the hardest part of selling, is leaving this house . . ."
